My First OOTD

Yesterday I posted about my fashion idols, Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen. Well, this is a cheap outfit that I picked up at Target that was inspired by my last post.
The dress was $30 and the shoes were 25% off, so I got them for $25.

Beauty Blogger Award!

Hi Everyone!

So thank you to the wonderful beautytime101 for nominating me for the Beauty Blogger of the Month award. I have only been blogging a very, very short amount of time so this was a huge surprise for me & really made my day! (:

So, as required – here are my answers to the beauty questions:

1. Where does your makeup inspiration come from?
I’d say my makeup inspiration comes from various places. First, function. I need/use makeup that conceals what I want hidden and highlights what I love about my face. I use it to manipulate how I present myself. Secondly, from my mood. My mood dictates so much of how I’ll wear my make up that day. Inspiration also floods in from classic beauties of time. I love simple, classic, and timeless makeup looks like Jane Birkin.

2. What are 3 of your makeup Holy Grail products you cannot live without?
Must have a good matte bronzer.
Must have mascara.
Must have some sort of lip tint.

3. What is your makeup signature look which you have on most of the time?
I mostly have on a simple eyeliner, neutral eyeshadow, thick lashes, bronzer, and a nude/pink lip color.

4. Let us know your favorite makeup brands?
I’m loving Benefit right now so much. Also, I love MAC of course. It was my first brand that I really got into once I entered the world of makeup. I have to stay true to my roots.

5. Your ultimate makeup pet peeve?
Blue eyeshadow.
Done correctly, some people can pull it off, some. But mostly, it’s not done correctly.

6. You’ve heard about all the hype on this makeup item, bought it, tried it and don’t understand what all the fuss is about…Name that product!
MAC Creme de Nude.
I loved it when I first bought it, but I think I was swayed by all the hype. Now I just don’t like it and I won’t even ware it. It just is not at all flattering on me and I’m not sure why I thought to purchase it. It’s unbearable to wear without some sort of heavily tinted lip gloss over top of it.

7. Concealer OR foundation ONLY for the rest of your life. Choose one and tell us the reason!
Concealer! Let your natural skin shine through.

Thank you to everyone who’s been reading my blog over this past month or so, it really means a lot to me

xx Sarah

Benefit: They’re Real!

Benefit Haul

Friday after work, I went straight to Ulta to pick up the new They’re Real Push-Up Liner by benefit and got a little bit carried away. Okay, not as carried away as it may look here. I just also splurged (yes, splurged, because make-up is so expensive and I am too broke to justify buying “high end” make up all the time) on the They’re Real mascara as well. But for good reasons! Reason #1 – I’ve only heard amazing things about it & have wanted it for a while. Reason #2 – if I spent $40 on Benefit products, I got a free Benefit gift as well, hence all the sample sized products.
This actually worked out really well for me because I’ve wanted to try Hoola boxed powder, and my Porefessional primer is running out, so this should hold me over just a little bit longer.

The reason for this entire haul:

They're Real Push Up Liner

This is a gel eye liner pen. Let me say that again, a GEL eyeliner pen! What?!
I love it. I just love it so much. I have a difficult time using liquid liner (and I don’t try too often because I have no patience), so I could not wait to get ahold of this. I’ve only used it once as of right now, but it was so easy to apply and to get an even, thick line. With the tapered applicator it was also a lot easier to get a slight wing. TSA_8018

When I opened it up for the first time, I was playing with it on the back of my hand and had lines all over the place. I would rub over my hand and nothing budged at all, which I was happy with. But what really amazed me was when I showered a few hours later and was using a loofa and soap to scrub it off my hand, and man- I really had to scrub at it! It stays on so so well, I can’t emphasize that enough. I ended up sleeping in it (oops, I always slack when I stay with my boyfriend) and the next morning it was still just as bold and perfect as it was the night before. It was amazing. Not that you should sleep in your makeup, but I mean, it was pretty impressive at how well it held up.

Next up: They’re Real Mascara TSA_8022

This lived up to all my expectations, mostly. It seemed that it could get a little bit clumpy, but it really wasn’t bad. It made my lashes stand out so much, I loved it. This mascara paired with the gel eyeliner pen is my new favorite combo. I felt like a totally different woman! Mainly because I don’t usually do thick liner, because I’m not the best at it, and because usually my lashes look pretty sparse. I have absolutely no regrets about buying this mascara and now I see why everyone is obsessed with it.

Last but not least: My free gift

I have yet to play with the Hoola bronzer and I apologize for not getting a picture of the actual product… I don’t know what I was thinking. It’s been around for quite a long time though, so I’m sure you can find out much more from a simple google search. I got a mini version of the same mascara that I bought. I got a miniature professional primer. I love this primer and I use it every single day. I feel like it just gives my skin a really nice base for my foundation and sort of blurs out all my imperfections. I wore the coralista lipgloss the other night & it was a nice subtle bit of color for a casual evening. It felt quite moisturizing, which I loved.

First Pay Check Means First Shopping Haul!

I finally got my first paycheck from my first real job and it felt great! I had to go celebrate by shopping (: Being not so broke anymore is much more fun.

Here are the accessories that I got. If you’re interested, I can make another post showing you what clothes I bought as well & how I plan on styling them. But just a warning, they are mostly work clothes.

Everything in this post I got from Nordstrom Rack.

Anyways, first things first, I finally bought necklaces! I love wearing necklaces & I know that they can totally change the vibe of an outfit, but I always have a hard time spending money on them. I’m not sure why. Anyways, today I overcame that and bought two new statement necklaces. photo5 photo4-2
I also bought some very outgoing shoes. I’ll have to muster up the courage to wear them out, but I am determined to because I am just obsessed with them! photo2-5 photo3-3
I can’t wait to wear these with some nice skinny jeans or a tight midi skirt for a nice dinner or a night out. I have been loving the ankle strap style but have yet to purchase any shoes like that – until today!

The last thing I grabbed at checkout was this beautiful eye shadow palette from Smashbox. It’s the Soft Box. I’ve been wanting something that I can just throw in my purse & this was the perfect thing! The mirror is large and great quality. The colors are pretty neutral and can be used for any occasion. It also came with a double ended brush, which will probably come in handy. I can’t wait to try it out! photo6
Let me know what you guys think & if you’d be interested in seeing a clothing haul as well!
